Page Pull Tester
- Description
- Application
Today, book binding is a very high speed operation process. One of the most important factors in this process is the adhesive/glue utilized. There are many types of adhesives/glues used for the process, like Reversible PVA, Methyl Cellulose and Hot Melt Adhesives just to mention a few.
To determine the efficiency of the adhesives and primers used in the bindery operations, Hemetek, an Indian supplier of Chatillon force measurement instruments, developed the page pull tester. The page pull tester is specially designed for testing the spine gluing of hardcover books, paperbacks, magazines, telephone directories and catalogues.
The page pull tester helps to set up the threshold limit of required binding strength for the book binder. The innovative testing solution helps to set up the production speed without compromising the binding strength and book binding quality. The page pull tester also focusses on rupture testing i.e. when fully separated, the surface of the materials joined must show evidence of rupture along the entire glued area.
The page pull tester features the easy-to-use Chatillon DFX digital force gauge. With its simple operator interface, high resolution display and measurement accuracy of +0.3% of full scale the Chatillon force gauge quickly enables the page pull tester to accurately and precisely inform the force required to hold the pages in the spine of the book in units such as ozf, gf, lbf, kgf and N. The Chatillon force gauge is available in four capacities; 10 lbf, 50 lbf, 100 lbf and 200 lbf.
The Chatillon DFX force gauge is battery driven and batteries enables 70-100 hours of continuous use before recharging is needed. Due to the use of the battery driven Chatillon DFX force gauge the paper pull tester does not require any power. The page pull tester comes at a length of 19 inches, width of 12 inches and height of 24 inches. It weighs 11 kilos.
