Wayside Red Ensign Daylily

The bright red blooms of 'Wayside Red Ensign' daylily are a sight to see. Beautiful on their own, but are simply breathtaking when planted en masse.  Lovely mid-sized blooms are 5 1/2" and grow on scapes just under 3' tall in our East Tennessee garden. Lightly fragrant, this mid-to-late season variety is a stunning way to end the season.

Wayside Red Ensign is a mid to late season daylily. We typically see the first of its brilliant red blooms in late June. If you are to our north, you'll see them a few weeks later than we do. If you live to our south, you'll see them a couple of weeks before us.

As a dormant daylily, Wayside Red Ensign is best grown in gardens that receive a sustained winter cold period, like those in planting zones 8 and lower. 

We love to see the bright blooms of Wayside Red Ensign paired with bright yellow or sizzling orange daylilies. Bonus points if the yellow or orange daylilies have a bold red eyezone to bring out the bright red of Wayside Red Ensign's blooms. So fabulous!
